Description

The collaboration between the textile company Maharam and British fashion designer Paul Smith could be attributed to Gio Ponti. After seeing a silk pattern designed by the prolific Italian designer, Smith approached Maharam for permission to use it as a lining for his menswear jackets. Shortly after, he began using archival Maharam textiles in his accessories collection, and a collaboration on a new upholstery collection quickly followed. Smith’s Ottoman Stripe (2012) fabric for Maharam brings new dimension to his familiar yet unique language of stripes by punctuating a lustrous worsted wool satin with colorful bands to create the ribbed or corded effect known as ottoman. This fabric is Greenguard Gold certified and may contribute to LEED certification. This is an authentic Paul Smith fabric produced by Maharam Design Studio. Made in U.S.A.
