Midcentury models
Detroit natives Jerome and Evelyn Ackerman founded Jenev Design Studio (“Jenev” is a combination of their first names: “Je” and “Ev”) in 1952. Jerome spent a year devising shapes, molds, and glazes, then began slip-casting and firing his creations, with Evelyn decorating some of them. The six pieces in the Jenev Collection (1953) are made with molds meticulously copied from his masters, with glazes formulated to match his signature matte finishes. Made in China.

Evelyn and Jerome Ackerman
Husband and wife team Evelyn and Jerome Ackerman had a goal of making affordable, decorative objects for young couples like themselves. The couple began work in ceramics, inspired by the Bauhaus tenet espousing the unification of art, craft and production. They named their partnership Jenev Design Studio, derived from a composite of “Je” and “Ev” from their first names.
