ABOUT THE STUDIO

The San Francisco Studio occupies a newly renovated space at the corner of Kansas and 15th streets in the heart of the Design District. At 20,000 square feet, it’s one of the largest DWR Studios ever opened. Visitors will be greeted at the entrance by the DWR San Francisco Garden, a large installation of dozens of Arena and Thornton planters landscaped with native plants. Unique features inside include a large Light Cloud of pendant fixtures, the Design Library Swatch Wall, the Dining Test Lab for test-driving 70 iconic dining chairs, 30 full-room vignettes, outdoor and café solutions and a private meeting room for clients and their designers. Parking is available in front of the building. Proprietor Eric Hildebrandt oversees the Studio with his friendly and knowledgeable sales associates.

“Bask in the rays of the Light Cloud, a super sweet lighting installation that greets visitors upon entrance to the showroom (see opening image). Lanterns, sputniks, and spherical light fixtures float overhead as guests peruse the Design Library Swatch Walls. Here, you can run your hands over the textures of 500 tiles, upholstered in fabrics and leathers available for DWR products. These mosaic walls span 60 feet of colorful textile goodness.”California Home + Design

Parks and Art: Michael Schwab in conversation with Eric Heiman
Thursday, July 31, 7-9pm
DWR is proud to be a sponsor of this event, which will be held at the Hattery in the SoMa district.

You know the work, but do you know the man behind it? The Golden Gate Bridge, Muir Woods, Alcatraz, Fort Point. The artist who has rendered California’s iconic landmarks in image form is illustrator Michael Schwab. For more than 20 years, Schwab has produced work that celebrates life in the Golden State. His posters, logos and illustrations are instantly recognizable for their graphic forms and drama. Schwab’s work is at once bold and beckoning and proves that simplicity is stunning.
Eric Heiman, founder of Volume Inc. and a professor of graphic design at CCA, will join Michael in conversation about the creative process, the development of a style, the power of ink on paper and the way of life at the drawing table.
