Jens Quistgaard: Modern Master
“Design is about knowing your craft,” said Jens Quistgaard. “It’s not just about studying fine arts and wearing a beret.” If you’re not familiar with Quistgaard’s name, you’re probably aware of his work, as he was chief designer for Dansk Designs. The designer is the subject of a 30-minute documentary titled “A Saucepan for My Wife,” for which he invites a camera into his home. Including 16 mm clips from the ‘50s and early ‘60s, the movie shows examples of the breadth and range of his work. The filmmaker Stig Guldberg will be in the Studio to answer questions, and there will be an exhibition of Quistgaard’s work, including DWR’s Teak Folding Stool and his rare pepper mills (available for purchase). Libations will be served.
