Jens Risom Collection

Price $1,680.00
Just like with our Jens Armchair and Ottoman, we turned to Jens Risom to lend a hand when we were looking to bring an upholstered rocker into our assortment. The Risom Rocker (2009) has a nine-button tufted back; a nod toward the classic Danish modern aesthetic that can be found in all of Risom’s work. Made in U.S.A.
  • A high back supports your head while you rock.
  • The armrests are sculpted for comfortable support.
  • A hidden counterweight in the front rail helps ensure a smooth, deep rock.
  • Solid walnut frame; Maharam Milestone fabric (78% post-industrial recycled polyester, 15% polyester, 7% nylon).
  • H 39" D 36" W 29" Arm H 24.5"

Jens Risom has been a part of the DWR family from the beginning, which is why it’s appropriate that he should be involved with one of the first projects by DWR Design Studio. In 2007, we started collaborating with Risom to reintroduce the chair and ottoman he originally designed in 1949 for the Caribe Hilton Hotel in Puerto Rico. Decades have passed since this collection was in production, and Risom worked closely with us in every step of its return, from reviewing prototypes, to adjusting tiny details, to advocating cost effective changes in the manufacturing process. The Jens Chair and Ottoman (2008) look the same as the ones made in 1949, but thanks to Risom’s input, they are smarter solutions that take advantage of resources and tools that weren’t available 60 years ago. Like all of the furniture by this iconic designer, this collection has a subtle Scandinavian sensibility that works with modern and traditional settings. Or, as Risom put it, "Good design means that anything good will go well with other equally good things." The reversible cushions have removable slipcovers for cleaning

Jens Risom has been a part of the DWR family from the beginning, which is why it’s appropriate that he should be involved with one of the first projects by DWR Design Studio. In 2007, we started collaborating with Risom to design a bench and reintroduce a chair and ottoman he originally designed in 1949 for the Caribe Hilton Hotel in Puerto Rico. Risom worked closely with us through every step, from reviewing prototypes, to adjusting tiny details, to advocating cost effective changes in the manufacturing process. The Jens Bench (2008) has a “floating” cushion that can be positioned to the left, right or center, leaving an area of exposed wood to the side. The result is a seat and built-in side table in one streamlined piece. Like all of the furniture by this iconic designer, the Jens Bench has a subtle Scandinavian sensibility that works with modern and traditional settings. Or, as Risom put it, “Good design means that anything good will go well with other equally good things.” The reversible cushion has a removable slipcover for cleaning.
