Hans Wegner, the midcentury Danish design master, never saw quality and quantity as mutually exclusive – the innovator of organic functionalism designed more than 400 chairs in his lifetime, many of which are heralded as design icons. His CH33 Dining Chair (1957) was in production until 1967 and, until now, has lived on only in auction houses internationally. Its warmth, simplicity and elegance make it an easeful complement to many different style interiors, inspiring Carl Hansen & Søn to bring it back into production in 2012. “This chair was conceived 55 years ago and is just as relevant now as it was then,” says Knud Erik Hansen, third-generation owner of Carl Hansen & Søn. “Aside from its design features, the chair’s construction and the craftsmanship that goes into making it assure its appeal for generations to come.” Made in Denmark.
