Additional Information

Description

After refining their molded plastic chairs, Charles and Ray Eames began experimenting with making a chair from welded wire. To succeed, the Eameses had to figure out how to create a design with the strength they needed while keeping manufacturing costs as low as possible. Ultimately, they decided on using lighter-gauge wire doubled over into a rim that sandwiches heavier inner wire to form their Eames Wire Chair (1951), which won them their first American mechanical design patent. Its organic shape and airy silhouette are complemented by a sturdy steel base. This is an authentic Eames product by Herman Miller. Commercial quality. Made in U.S.A.

  • DKX.0 stands for dining height, K-wire shell, X-leg base, no seat pad. The X is a bit abstract, since you have to turn the chair over to see how its base forms an X.
