Bauhaus Chessboard
A master craftsman in the Bauhaus wood-carving workshop, sculptor Josef Hartwig became best known for his architectural chess set. The one-piece, solid maple Bauhaus Chessboard (1924) coordinates with the architectural Bauhaus Chessmen (sold separately). Produced in exacting detail to Hartwig’s original design, the set is part of the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Made in Switzerland.
