Designed by Verner Panton, produced by Verpan
In 1960, Verner Panton moved away from his native Denmark, where he had become a bit of an outsider among his Danish design contemporaries. (“You don't make yourself popular if you have other ideas,” he once said.) Traveling to Cannes and then settling in Basel, Switzerland, Panton developed an interest in easily moved furniture. His Barboy (1963) is a mobile bar with three storage compartments, a tabletop and smooth-rolling wheels. For access to what’s inside, the components swing out from an off-center pivot point. The bottom container is big enough for bottles, the middle is for glasses, and the small container is for corkscrews, napkins and other accessories. Comes with a certificate of authenticity, and Panton’s signature is stamped into the base. Licensed manufacture by Verpan ApS. Produced under license from the Verner Panton Estate, Basel, Switzerland. Made in Denmark.
