Handmade from 100% natural and organic materials, the Be Well Mattress has a core of pure, natural Talalay latex that comes from the rubber tree. An easily renewable resource, natural latex is durable, long-lasting and won’t sag over time. Without using metal coils or glue, the Be Well Mattress has the luxurious feeling of soft cushioning over a firm core, which Cordaro achieved by using a softer layer of natural latex on top of the firmer core. Using a centuries-old hand-tufting technique that’s rarely practiced today, the core is wrapped in soft organic fabric quilted to organic cotton and Pure Grow Wool™. “Many people who have allergies to wool discover they are in fact allergic to the chemicals used in processing conventional wool, and not the wool itself,” says the designer. The domestic wool she uses is undyed and comes from sheep that graze in pesticide-free pastures and have no chemicals added to their feed. Plus, because wool is naturally flame resistant, the Be Well Mattress meets federal flammability standards while being free of all synthetic and chemical flame retardants.
