Co-founded in 1925 by aspiring young engineers Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen in Denmark, Bang & Olufsen is renowned for its distinctive range of premium music systems and high-performance speakers. Drawing on close to 90 years of experience, B&O collaborates with top designers to create products that boast a combination of state-of-the-art components and refined style. Øivind Alexander Slaatto, winner of the “Design the Laptop of the Future” contest held by Intel in 2005, worked hard to keep things simple when creating the Beoplay A9 (2012) – without compromising sound quality. This versatile unit can be set on the floor or mounted on a wall with the optional Wall Bracket (sold separately). To eliminate the usual hassle of audio setup, it includes three settings that modulate sound based on its positioning. Distilling sound design to just a few essential elements, this robust yet easy-to-use system boasts accessible features such as “magic touch” volume control, whereby you control volume by swiping your hand along the top of the housing. Stream music to A9 using Apple AirPlay or DLNA, or connect a device via the built-in 3.5mm minijack, USB port or RCA-style connector. A9 even provides a Spotify Connect function for access to the entire Spotify library of more than 20 million songs (Spotify Premium account required). Max output: 480W. Frequency range: 33–25,000Hz. Backed by a two-year warranty (three-year if registered). Made in China.
