Danish designer Simon Legald believes his work is “to be bought and used. Therefore it has to satisfy not only the functional aspects, but also the psychological and aesthetic needs.” A graduate of The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he has created small- and large-scale products, always mixing craftsmanship and industrial design. “In my designs I try not to add any unnecessary details,” he says. “I work with simplicity by highlighting the necessities instead of hiding them. It gives the product a simple and honest expression.” Combining steel and ash wood, his Block Cart (2012) can be used as a serving cart or side table next to a sofa or bed. The four legs protrude through the steel trays, becoming easy-to-reach handles to use when rolling the cart to and fro. Ships flat; simple assembly required. Made in China.
