James Minola and Chelsea Green met at the Rhode Island School of Design, where they discovered a shared ambition to make a positive impact through design. In 2008, they launched Grain – a full-service design consultancy and studio based in their 1901 farmhouse on Bainbridge Island, Washington. Dedicated to social and environmental responsibility, Grain unites current manufacturing technologies with age-old crafting techniques. The pair’s Bound Mirror (2011) combines a mid-century modern color palette with the warmth and rustic chic aesthetic of wound hemp twine. Each Bound Mirror is hand assembled and wrapped from domestically sourced parts at the Grain headquarters in Washington State. This unique mirror is ethically produced from renewable materials, and each Grain purchase supports 1% for the Planet, a consortium of businesses committed to giving 1% of all annual revenue to environmental nonprofits. The Bound Mirror comes with precise handling and hanging instructions, as well as hanging hardware. Made in U.S.A.
