Designer Angela Adams, who grew up on an island 12 miles off the coast of Maine, has been inspired by the harsh and rugged beauty of the East Coast to design rugs with biomorphic shapes and such naturally recurring patterns as rocks in the ocean. With her new 100% New Zealand wool rug collection for DWR, she has found inspiration even closer to home. Her Bodine rug, a sly play of solid tendrils against slivers of bright stripes, pays homage to her Aunt Bodine, known for her multicolored hand knit socks. The organic shapes of Adams' designs are given texture and depth by her use of rich color and thick pile, which is soft and inviting.
