Doshi Levien is a London-based studio founded in 2000 by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien. First commissioned by Tom Dixon, the studio has continued to grow its roster of internationally acclaimed clients ever since. For Herdmar, it was invited to design a special flatware collection to celebrate the company’s 100 years of cutlery expertise and manufacturing. This marked the first time that the family business worked with outsourced designers, and all parties agree that the result is both a celebration of the future and a tribute to the past. Century Flatware (2011), inspired by a plane’s propeller, features balanced forms that are pleasing to the touch and eye. Crafted of durable stainless steel, the knife is type 420, and the forks and spoons are type 304. This set includes four five-piece settings, each of which comprises a salad fork, dinner fork, knife, soupspoon and teaspoon, packaged in an elegant red gift box. Dishwasher safe (see care instructions at right). Made in Portugal.
