The classic Chesterfield Sofa, with button tufting and rounded armrests, is given an entirely new interpretation in the Chester Sofa (2009). The DWR Design Studio asked Deep Design (Italian designers Raffaella Mangiarotti and Matteo Bazzicalupo) to help fine tune this innovative outdoor seating solution. We knew Mangiarotti would understand our design constraints – her Dandelion Lamp is now included in MoMA’s permanent collection. Crafted from roto-molded polyethylene, Chester has the added feature of an optional Light Fixture (sold separately), which can be installed in the bottom. Plus, its unique and innovative drainage system – a proprietary invention of Serralunga, our manufacturing partner – ensures that Chester will stand up to the elements. Made in Italy.
Optional Light fixtures can be installed by removing the plastic cap on the bottom of the Sofa. It is necessary to drill holes in the bottom to accommodate the Fixtures’ screws (included with purchase of the Light Fixture).
Two Light Fixtures will illuminate the entire Sofa.
Optional Light Fixtures come with an energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulb. Fixture is UL rated and includes a 10' cord that plugs into any standard 120-volt outlet.
