A lack of efficient, sleek and wobble-free fans on the market inspired designer Ron Rezek to create his own. Since 1997, he has been producing state-of-the-art fans like the Cirrus (1999). Approved for use in damp and covered outdoor areas, this fan received the Environmental Protection Agency’s Energy Star rating for energy efficiency. Energy Star-qualified fans meet strict guidelines set by the EPA and Department of Energy, and are, on average, 50% more efficient than standard models. With its quiet blades moving thousands of cubic feet of air per minute, the Cirrus is designed for use in all seasons; a reverse switch keeps warm air circulating during cooler months. A patented single-piece rotor makes this fan wobble-free and the high-power motor has four speeds that are controlled with a wall-mounted unit (a remote control is available, sold separately). Two stem attachments (6" and 13") are included for various ceiling heights. Assembly required. Bulb (included): halogen 75W/PAR16. Made in China.
If all design practitioners were as ambitious as Ron Rezek, the innovation, quality and function present in daily life would increase by leaps and bounds. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, Rezek spent his early career teaching in the school's art and architecture departments, as well as at Art Center and the Southern California Institute of Architecture.
In addition to his professorate, Rezek has been designing products for various markets for nearly 40 years, including a lifeguard rescue float in 1969, used around the world, and seen weekly on Baywatch. After working for architects Deborah Sussman and Frank Gehry, Rezek started Ron Rezek Lighting in 1978 with the goal to help modernize the decorative lighting industry. Co-owned with Artemide, Ron Rezek Lighting produces state-of-the-art lighting that reflects the designer's philosophy of "simplicity in form and economy in production." Rezek was also responsible in 1990 for opening the first Highlights showroom, which is now a national retail "gallery of lights featuring the best modern designs." Read more >
