Graduate of the Bergen National Academy of the Arts and winner of the 2013 New Designers Award from Elle Decoration, Lars Beller Fjetland continues to nurture his lifelong fascination for the marriage of function with the finest natural materials in furniture, interiors and lighting. His endeavors range from collaborations with graphic designers to sculptural experiments with form. One such experiment, the Drifted Counter Stool (2012), reflects the influence of nature on Fjentland’s work. While walking along the water’s edge in Øygarden, Norway, outside of Bergen, “I became aware of all the varied materials and objects that had floated ashore,” says Fjentland. Among them were driftwood and cork bleached and scoured by the ocean, the inspirations that “set the basis for the stool.” Drifted features a cork seat and a lightweight ash frame for comfort, mobility and durability. The water-repellant seat puts spill-prone guests at ease in the kitchen or bar. Made in Italy.
