Spanish artist and designer Javier Mariscal has worked in a wide range of mediums, applying his whimsical and expressive style to each project. Organically shaped, his Despertar Rug (2008), designed for Nani Marquina, incorporates his cartoon-like illustrations of birds and animals into the bold black and white graphic. Great for small spaces like a loft, Despertar makes a compelling floor covering next to the bed or in the front hall or kitchen. Together with the nonprofit Care & Fair, Mariscal and Nani Marquina are fighting against illegal child labor in the manufacturing of carpets. Hand-made and hand-tufted in India.
