Chikutan Coal Water Purifier (Set of 3)

While these Coal Water Purifiers (2006) appear black, they’re actually white charcoal, made from Japanese bamboo. The complex process for making white charcoal results in a hard glass-like material that’s clean to the touch (a small amount of residue is normal before its been washed) and absorbs impurities from beverages. Used in Asia for generations, stir a white charcoal stick in your tea, water or alcohol to give it a cleaner taste. Made in Japan.

CO2 friendly: at the end of its useful life, crush this charcoal and mix it with soil so plants can benefit from it.
Purifies water without the use of chemicals.
These thin sticks are elegant and should be handled like porcelain.
