First produced in the 1950s, the Space Trooper Robot is a quality reproduction of the vintage robot originally made by Yoshiya, and captures the futuristic idea that humans will someday share their world with robots. Fast forward to today, and part of that fantasy has come true, in that “robots” (or computers) have automated many everyday tasks, and are often at the helm of major machinery. While this progress is remarkable, the humble computer chip doesn’t look nearly as cool as the Space Trooper Robot that rolls forward while the antennas in its helmet spin, all powered by a wind-up flywheel motor. Because the tin construction may have sharp edges, this item is not recommended for children under the age of eight. The Space Trooper Robot is for collectors, and is not a child’s toy.
