As much a conceptual artist as designer, Arne Quinze has embraced an unconventional approach to his creations. Quinze got his start as a graffiti artist in Belgium, and has gone on to find international success for his interiors like Rem Koolhaas’ Seattle Public Library, as well as his encompassing and ambitious art installations. “Artistic inspiration comes from very deep inside me,” Quinze says. “Some people are always thinking in words. I always think in images and forms.” The form of his Primary Pouf (2000) displays his non-traditional approach. Part seat, part table, part color statement, the Pouf consists of a large cube of all-weather patented foam that resists fading or degrading, indoors or out. Made in Belgium.
