These solid Douglas fir Chop Blocks (2000) are bookmatched – which not only gives an arresting visual effect, but helps to prevent warping over time. Generously cut, they can be placed on an end for easy storage on the back of the countertop when not in use and come in four sizes to accommodate chopping jobs both small and large. Like all Studio North Design products, the Chop Blocks are crafted from an often overlooked material: forest-salvaged, old-growth Douglas fir. A straight-grained, amber-colored wood, it’s acquired through forest salvage logging, where skilled sawyers mine usable wood out of logs that have long since fallen in the forests of the Pacific Coast. Douglas fir is durable, but will also go easy on your knives.
