Silver Dining Table - Rectangle
John Caldwell created his Silver Dining Collection (1999) with the generous proportions normally reserved for indoor furniture. These commercial quality pieces are crafted out of teak that's kiln-dried and left unfinished for a low-maintenance, moisture resistant surface that will patina into a silvery color over time. The wood Caldwell uses is harvested from managed plantations in order to promote the renewal of this valuable resource. Leveling glides in the legs help ensure an even tabletop surface. A removable 1.5" plug allows an umbrella to be inserted through the center of the table. When the collection was introduced in 1999, it was honored with the Pinnacle Award, presented by the American Society of Furniture Designers. The rectangular table seats eight. Made in U.S.A.
An additional $50 handling charge applies to the delivery of each of these items.

Instructions for caring for Teak - Solid Wood
Product Care The warm color of new teak will naturally soften over several seasons to a soft, silver-gray patina. This aging creates a cured outer surface to protect the oil-rich hardwood. To maintain the mellow appearance of aged teak, clean the teak once a year with mild soap and water, with careful and thorough rinsing, and air dry. To maintain the original appearance of the wood, care products such as teak oil and sealer are available.
John Caldwell
John Caldwell got his first break as a furniture designer in Los Angeles in the 1950s. In the early days, he freelanced for Brown Jordan, a company that built steel army cots in kwanset huts during World War II and then went on to produce high-design modern outdoor furniture by Caldwell, Walter Lamb (who salvaged bronze tubing from sunken battleships off Hawaii for his pieces), and Van-Keppel Green (the partnership that created the majority of the patio furniture for John Entenza's Arts and Architecture case study homes). Since selling Brown Jordan his Mai Tai design in 1957 at the age of 19, Caldwell has designed outdoor furniture, office furniture and accessories, umbrellas, lighting, and ceiling fans for markets in the United States, China, Indonesia, and Mexico. He also taught design for twenty years at various southern California colleges including Long Beach...
