At just $98, this simple chair is the work of Christophe Pillet, who has worked with many luxury brands, including Holly Hunt, FontanaArte and Veuve Clicquot. Whether working as the design director for Lacoste or as the interior architect for the Hotel Sezz in St. Tropez, Pillet has won international acclaim for his high-voltage chic, distinguished by his taste for certain rhythms and time signatures (for which he credits his early music career). After earning his degree from Domus Academy in Milan, Pillet became part of the Memphis group, assisting Michele De Lucchi. In 1993, he started his own agency in Paris and was named Designer of the Year at the Salon du Meuble de Paris that same year. In recent years, he’s been drawn to more “modest” projects, “in which practical character and economy are privileged over any other criteria,” says the designer. His Shot Café Chair (2011) is certainly in keeping with this current emphasis, fulfilling the need for a comfortable, compact chair at a great price point. Stackable up to 12 high, this outdoor chair is suitable for contract use. Made in Italy.
