French design agency Normal Studio expresses “a commitment to everyday shapes through simple and precise design” that promotes the highest quality of use. By revisiting the cooling properties of terracotta, designers Jean-François Dingjian and Eloi Chafï have revitalized a centuries-old Latin method for chilling and storing water, creating a stylish piece for outdoor dining. Their Terracotta Wine Cooler (2010) keeps contents cool through the slow evaporation of water from the semi-porous, raw clay. Terracotta’s thermal properties will maintain the temperature of pre-chilled wine, and when soaked in cold water prior to use, the terracotta will slowly release moisture to cool the wine inside the carafe. The glazed interior is food safe. The Wine Cooler has a fitted cork lid to hold your wine bottle in place. Made in France.
