The American Modern 5-Drawer Dresser (2008) is inpired by George Nelson’s 1948 Thin Edge case goods. Nelson’s work – whether designing clocks, lamps or furniture – expressed his desire to “do much more with much less.” Still true to Nelson’s straightforward design aesthetic, we’ve made updates to take advantage of today’s manufacturing techniques. These case goods are simple maple structures, which we’ve crafted out of solid FSC-certified wood. Nelson’s work – whether designing clocks, lamps or furniture – expressed his desire to “do much more with much less.” Still true to Nelson’s straightforward design aesthetic, we’ve made updates to take advantage of today’s manufacturing techniques.
The Be Well Mattress Protector is made of Pure Grow Wool™, an all-natural product that replaces synthetic foam and Dacron®. This wool is undyed and comes from sheep that graze in a pesticide-free pasture and eat feed that’s chemical-free. The Protector is highly moisture resistant, even enough for use in cribs, and is designed to lie flat on the mattress (with no straps). Because wool breathes, the Be Well Mattress Protector keeps you cool and comfortable, which comes as a surprise to some people who think the wool will make them hot. Because these mattress protectors are made by hand, they can vary slightly in size. Cold water washable; block or hang dry. Made in U.S.A.

While most of us can appreciate the added convenience of a conventional three-way mirror, few would choose this ubiquitous dressing room piece for their homes. The Bellavista Mirror (2004) by Carlo Marelli and Massimo Molteni is an exception, designed to live in even the most intimate of living spaces, including bedrooms, living areas and entryways. With three hinged panels, the wall-mounted Bellavista can close for complete concealment behind solid ash wood doors. When open, these doors can be adjusted to provide reflections from multiple angles. High-quality aluminum hardware provides smooth opening and closing. Simple bracket system enables secure stud-mounting. Made in Italy.

Step outside the digital realm. The Clam Shell Alarm Clock evokes a time when travel was a little more glamorous and mobile phones were the stuff of science fiction. This pop-up portable clock has rounded corners and a spring-loaded hinge, which pops up with the push of a button. Echoing the lines and style of mid-century timekeepers, it has classic black, white and silver coloration. It’s crafted by the Howard Miller company. Howard C. Miller (son of Herman) founded Howard Miller in 1926, making clocks of “incomparable workmanship and unsurpassed quality.” The company still crafts timepieces with the same philosophy and dedication. Runs on one LR44 battery.

For use as a coat rack, drying rack or exposed closet, the Cosine Clothing Rack (1993) is crafted from smooth-textured maple wood, which will patina over time. It’s treated only with an all-natural vegetable oil-based finish that preserves the features of the wood, while letting it breathe. With a compact footprint, the Rack has simple “A” shape that’s held in place by a beige leather strip at the base. The Clothing Rack is made by Cosine – a Japanese company based in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, an area known for its wood-crafted furniture. Cosine was initially started to up-cycle wood remnants from the furniture industry. They still use only natural wood to design their simply crafted items that continue to improve with age.

The Wild-Harvested Sachets are made from nothing except either sage from the central coast of California or trimmings from Douglas fir trees in the Pacific Northwest. The Big Sur Sage Sachet offers a refreshing smell that cleans the air and clear the mind, while the Douglas Fir Sachet offers a relaxing and woodsy aroma. Neatly stowed in an organic cotton bag, it’s easy to slip a Sachet into a dresser drawer, the car, under a pillow and anywhere else that would benefit from a clean, natural scent. The Sachets are made by Juniper Ridge, a company dedicated to the preservation of the natural world in the Western United States. They never kill the plants from which they harvest materials for their products and they donate 10% of all sales to wildlife preservation efforts. The strength of the Sachet’s aroma will gradually subside over time. Made in U.S.A.

This height-adjustable table from 1927 is one of Eileen Gray's most rational designs and reflects her desire for functional perfection. Originally conceived as a bedside table for the guest room in Gray's famous E. 1027 house in Cap Martin (her sister was fond of breakfast in bed), it is also useful as a side table in living rooms, office reception areas or, (thanks to durable materials), on the terrace. Its purist aesthetic complements a wide range of furnishings and settings. Simple assembly required.

Florence Knoll Bassett almost single-handedly defined the look of modern corporate interiors in the 1950s and ’60s, as founder and director of the Knoll Planning Unit, the space-planning arm of Knoll® Associates. She looked at furniture design as just one aspect of her “total design” approach to interiors. “I did it because I needed a piece of furniture for a job and it wasn’t there, so I designed it,” she said. She wasn’t the only one who needed the Florence Knoll Credenza (1961), though, as it has been in constant production since its introduction. The simple, refined design has a white Arabescato top (the same marble used on the Saarinen Pedestal Table) and ebonized oak wood veneers, and is appropriate for a dining room, living room or office space. Made in Italy.
