With 11 people making up Note Design Studio in Stockholm, things can get a little crazy during any given project. “We are working with a flat hierarchy that often results in loud discussions, debating and cheering,” says Kristoffer Fagerström. “And in the end, a lot of really good ideas.” One such idea turned out to be the Watercolor Rug (2016), which began with observing patterns of color found on birds’ eggs. Note successfully scaled up those abstract patterns to create this tufted wool rug, evocative of a watercolor painting with its shifting tones. “We want this to be a rug that you care for and want to spend time around,” explains Fagerström. “A multifaceted rug that is as beautiful up close as seen from a distance.” Made in India.
