Details
A native of Northern Ireland, David Irwin got his first taste of design in his father’s amateur woodworking shop. He completed his studies in 2010 at Northumbria University in England, then established his own industrial design studio the following year. Irwin’s focus is rooted in material exploration and use of both traditional and contemporary manufacturing processes. Serving as all-in-one shelf, container and mirror, his Arca Wall Board (2017) is a multifunctional wall accessory that lends itself to most any room in the home. Constructed of solid wood, it sports varied compartments arranged in a grid. Made in Thailand.

For David Irwin, design ideas grow out of his own observations – things that make him stop and wonder why, or how. He founded his own studio in Newcastle, focusing on furniture, lighting, and accessory design that combines a strong concept with fundamental utility, qualities evident in his Narin Folding Chair, Arca Wall Board and Trove Desktop Storage.
