Walking on air
Made of hand-spun afghan wool, the Blur Rug (2020) designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for Nani Marquina features a repeating sequence of geometric shapes that shift in appearance as your distance ebbs and flows. When viewed from afar, the rug appears to have an indefinite, unfocused surface. Upon approaching the rug, individual lines and shapes in different proportions are revealed, in the purest kinetic style. This ability to celebrate traditional craftsmanship while innovating modern design is a definitive hallmark of the Bouroullec brothers. Made in India.

Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec
The brothers Bourouellec opened their joint Paris-based design studio in 1999. Being brothers in addition to business partners allows them to bounce ideas off each other, trusting that difference of opinion will spur creativity. Their products range from furniture, lighting and rugs to porcelain dishware, ceramic tile and jewelry, even window blinds and a TV.
