Designed by Ole Flensted for Flensted
Music of the spheres —
The Symphony Mobile brings a kind of graceful harmony to homes and offices. Its spins and twirls create a quiet movement that’s pleasant and soothing.
Details
All in the family
Ole Flensted imagined the Symphony Mobile (1972) as he listened to Mozart. Mobile creation, after all, ran in the family. His father, Christian, made his first in 1953, and a year later he and his wife, Grethe, founded Flensted Mobiles in Denmark on the island of Funen, where the carefully handcrafted works are still assembled. This mobile features solid maple balls on gold-plated stainless steel arms. Whether at rest or in synchronized motion, it’s beautifully playful and engaging.

Ole Flensted
Ole Flensted was 3 years old when his father, Christian, made a mobile to celebrate the christening of his daughter in 1953. Flensted, the oldest of three children, made his first production mobile in 1970, and his father named it Futura after the typeface – and also as a suggestion of Ole’s future, which was realized when he and wife Aase began running Flensted Mobiles, the family business.
