As beautiful with flowers as without, the richly textured Salt Vase is designed for ikebana, the Japanese art of arranging blossoms, branches, and leaves to create sculptural displays that celebrate the simple beauty of natural materials.
Details
Create a creative display of stems, branches, or leaves in the Salt Vase (2019) by ceramic artist and master potter João Lourenço. Handmade in Portugal by one of the few organizations still firing clay in the traditional Portugese method, this vase is made of “pastas ceramicas de gres chamotadas,” an extremely rough textured clay. The material is mixed with metallic salts and then fired at 1000 degrees Celsius to bring out the natural gradation of colors. Made in Portugal.
