Spare and streamlined —
The Icon Stool is reduced to the very simplest elements of seating: slim legs, subtly contoured seat, and open backrest.
Details
Lightweight and nearly indestructible
The Icon Stool (2006), designed by Philippe Starck for Emeco, is handcrafted in a 77-step patented process that includes heat treatment and anodizing, rendering the chair diamond-hard and virtually indestructible. Its sleek, simple form is lightweight and available in a brushed aluminum finish. Said Starck of the Icon: “The design is balanced, minimal, coherent – there is serenity.” Specially made clear plastic glides prevent scratched floors and snagged carpets. Made in U.S.A.

Philippe Starck
School dropout Philippe Starck jump-started his career by designing two nightclub interiors in Paris in the 1970s. The iconoclast designer went on to define a similarly hedonistic style of design in the 1980s and 90s. His interiors and products have sensual, appealing forms suggestive of character or personal identity, and Starck often conferred upon them clever, poetic or whimsical names.
