Playful and sophisticated Dutch design Founded by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers, Moooi (Dutch for “beautiful”) makes lighting, furniture, and accessories that are “daring, playful, exquisite and based on the belief that design is a question of love.”

Founded by Marcel Wanders and Casper Vissers in 2001, Moooi is named after the native Dutch word for “beautiful” – with a third “o” added to represent Moooi’s “sense of flair.” For Moooi, the goal is to “curate a well-designed life – one that sparks joy, interest and intrigue – using design that is daring, playful and exquisite.” Moooi was founded on the belief that good design is motivated by love, and the company uses love as its touchstone to create lightning, furniture and accessories. By combining timeless, novel objects and antiques with the freshness of modern design, Moooi creates objects and products that support the creation of surprising, dynamic environments with an inspiring variety of patterns and colors. In addition to Marcel Wanders’ designs, the Moooi portfolio contains a range of work from other nationally and internationally recognized designers including, amongst others, Arihiro Miyake, Bertjan Pot, Maarten Baas, Umut Yamac, Edward van Vliet, Joost van Bleiswijk, Studio Job and Nika Zupanc.
