Bill Stumpf
Bill Stumpf once said that he liked to collaborate with other designers the way a jazz trio improvises, playing together with no fixed destination. The approach requires complete attention, and you have to trust your instincts. Design should make room for spontaneity and discovery, said Stumpf, “blending the pleasure and pain of life into something wonderful.”

One issue though ... the design of the seat-pan is still tilted slightly too far back, and worse than that, Herman Miller didn't bother to extend the foam to cover the front-edge of the seat which is even more noticeable if you extend the seat length forward. What were they thinking? I ended up buying a $25 roll of adhesive backed 1/4" foam, and installed it to the underside of the fabric on the seat where you otherwise are resting on firmer plastic than in the middle of the seat. The seat pan adjustment still works as it should. What a glaring omission for such an expensive chair! Not only that, they should've tapered the thickness of the foam all the way to the front edge of the seat.

1) The armrests are too easily pushed out when leaned on. Need to have a more sturdy feel.
2) Armrests should have more adjustability (i.e. forward and back vs. just out and in)
3) Two of my wheels creak when moved.
4) The seat lengthener (sp) does not lock cleanly. A few times it adjusts by itself because it does not lock properly.
5) I feel like the fabric base will build up smells over-time (vs. some other material that might be better as a long term chair)

between sections kind of cut into my legs and was uncomfortable enough that I decided to return it. The "copper cooling foam" is a little nicer than the original chair though
