Details
After studying at the famous Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and working for architect Vilhelm Lauritzen, Finn Juhl set up his own design office in 1945 at the address of Nyhavn 33 in central Copenhagen. For this space, he designed a wonderfully slim and simple desk with steel legs and walnut “toes.” Furthering its streamlined aesthetic, Juhl designed the Nyhavn Desk (1945) with three colorful sliding trays built into a box that appears to float below the tabletop. One of the first versions of this desk can still be seen by visitors to Juhl’s Charlottenlund home, which is now part of the Ordrupgaard Museum. This is an authentic, fully licensed product of House of Finn Juhl. Made in Denmark.

Finn Juhl
When you look at the graceful shapes and sensual curves of Finn Juhl’s work, you may be shocked to realize that he designed these pieces 60 to 70 years ago. A pioneering force in his own country, Finn Juhl is also credited, along with fellow Danes Arne Jacobsen, Hans Wegner, Borge Mogensen and Poul Kjaerholm, with introducing Danish modern to midcentury America.
