Designed by Philippe Starck for Kartell
Ten years after designing his iconic Louis Ghost Chair, Philippe Starck added the One More Barstool (2012) to the collection. “If you want to sip a drink at the bar in peace and quiet, you need a comfortable tall stool with a back to lean against,” says Starck. “Sometimes one drink is not enough, and you need ‘One More’ ... and sometimes ‘One more, please.’” Sleek and sturdy, the first Ghost presented a significant manufacturing challenge for Kartell. Crafted from a single piece of injection-molded polycarbonate, the medallion back could be created thanks only to Kartell’s accumulated knowledge, built over years of innovation in plastics manufacturing. The result is a robust collection with a medallion backrest for leisurely comfort. Discussing the design of the collection with The Dallas Morning News, Starck commented that it “has a mix of materials and styles based on our shared memories. We all own this piece in a way. The chair is well balanced; I try to be balanced myself.” One More Barstool is suitable for indoor and outdoor use in residential and commercial settings. Made in Italy.

School dropout Philippe Starck jump-started his career by designing two nightclub interiors in Paris in the 1970s. The success of the clubs won the attention of then-President François Mitterrand, who asked Starck to refurbish one of the private apartments in the Élysée Palace.
Two years later, Starck designed the interior of the Café Costes in Paris and was on his way to ...
