Details

Philippe Starck has always been a firm believer in the concept of “democratic design,” or the production of quality items available at lower prices so more people can enjoy them worldwide. He identifies the “generics” of community seating with his aptly named Generic C (2016), a chair he designed specifically for gathering spaces such as bars and restaurants. Lightweight yet highly durable, it’s fitted with a high seat back and wraparound armrest for surprising comfort. Suitable for use indoors and out. Stacks up to six high. Made in Italy.

Philippe Starck

School dropout Philippe Starck jump-started his career by designing two nightclub interiors in Paris in the 1970s. The iconoclast designer went on to define a similarly hedonistic style of design in the 1980s and 90s. His interiors and products have sensual, appealing forms suggestive of character or personal identity, and Starck often conferred upon them clever, poetic or whimsical names.
