Details

Ellen Van Dusen studied the psychology of design and the brain’s reaction to visual stimuli at Tufts University. After graduating, she launched Brooklyn-based Dusen Dusen, a clothing line that soon became known for its lively original prints, then expanded the brand in 2015 to include bedding and towels. Dusen draws her inspiration from a variety of sources, such as midcentury resort architecture, Italian industrial design and Scandinavian textiles. Her bold Totem Cotton Knit Throw (2019) is marked by vibrant colors and a block pattern in a jacquard weave, so its sides are opposites of each other. Machine washable. Made in China.

Ellen Van Dusen

Designer Ellen Van Dusen has always been attracted to textiles, the more brightly colored the better. Raised by two architects, Van Dusen started creating her own fashions in high school. At the age of 23, she founded Dusen Dusen, based in Brooklyn. Once on her own, she translated her fondness for vibrant colors and geometric, doodle-like patterns into simple, wearable clothing and textiles.

Washable, lovely, soft, cozy
There are SO many options for throws but we chose this one for its apparent quality of knit, its heaviness that hugs you, and its ability to be laundered. We love it. Oh, it adds splashes of color to our family room, too! Thanks to DWR in Austin (Jomar!), we are super comfy for the cooler weather.
