Scott Sueme

(1986)
Vancouver-based painter Scott Sueme is concerned primarily with color. Using hard edged shapes to collapse foreground and background, his paintings distort spatial familiarity and allow the viewer to absorb the synergy created through his carefully tuned palette. His subtle color shifts and pared-down compositions engender a slowness of looking and a moment of pause.
