No stranger to furniture design, artist Dozie Kanu melds disparate materials, objects, and cultures in his work. The Dozie Kanu Console (2026) for Knoll draws inspiration from his Nigerian and Texan roots to create tactility and movement. Constructed with sleek steel rods, its taut leather top is inspired by an African drum, while floor-grazing leather fringe – which partially conceals a lower shelf – nods to African ceremonial skirts and cowboy regalia. “I let them hang loose, like the piece has taken a breath,” notes Kanu. Made in Italy.
