A modern masterpiece

Charles and Ray Eames had ideas about making a better world, one in which things were designed to bring greater pleasure to our lives. Their iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman (1956) began with a desire to create a chair with “the warm, receptive look of a well-used first baseman’s mitt.” The result embodies what it really means to lounge. In continuous production since its introduction, this set is widely considered one of the most significant designs of the 20th century. Combining soft, inviting leather or mohair with the sleek form of molded wood, the Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman is the culmination of the Eameses’ efforts to create a club chair using the molded plywood technology they pioneered in the ’40s. Even today, each piece is assembled by hand to ensure the highest level of quality and craftsmanship, and you’ll be pleased to discover the set gets even better with use and age. Cushions snap in and can be removed and changed. This is the authentic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman by Herman Miller. Made in U.S.A.

Available in standard or tall.
Herman Miller and the Eames Office, still run by the Eames family, developed the taller size in response to the fact that the average height of people worldwide has increased about an inch since the chair was designed. The variations in size are subtle to the eye, but for taller individuals, they make the difference between “I love Eames” and “Eames loves me.”
  • One of the most significant designs of the 20th century.
  • Pairs soft leather or mohair with molded wood.
  • Chair and ottoman comprised of molded wood shells filled with removable cushions.
  • Stamped with a medallion on the chair’s underside to signify authenticity.
  • Suited for living spaces, reception areas and executive offices.
  • Available in two sizes.

Charles and Ray Eames

Charles and Ray Eames

Design is for living. That maxim shaped a widespread shift in design during the 1940s and '50s. It was a revolution of form, an exciting visual language that signaled a new age and a fresh start – and two of its prime movers were Charles and Ray Eames. This husband-and-wife team's unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Sleek and simple. Beautifully functional.

Very nice chair and ottoman
I inherited an original Eames Lounge and Ottoman. It is in very good condition. I’ve had it for about 30 years. I am downsizing, and my children are not interested in it. I would be interested in selling it, if anyone is interested!

Amazing!
We got our chair yesterday and we're obsessed! It's so beautiful, comfortable and iconic. It's actually a little smaller than I was envisioning (didn't pay too much attention to dimensions), but we love it and I actually like that it's a bit smaller than what I thought it would be. The leather is beautifully soft and luxurious. It's my birthday/anniversary gift that will keep on giving for many years to come.

Very comfortable
I’ve yet to feel uncomfortable sitting in this chair. I’m not super tall (5’11”) but got the tall version, and it’s a really good height.

Delayed delivery
I purchased Eames chair based on 10 day Delivery date offered for IN STOCK item. Then when I paid, I was given a date three weeks later. Then when I enquirer I was given a date closer to original which I agreed on. Then date was missed. Then I received notification to pick three dates three weeks from that point. Incredibly disappointing from a great company. So I cancelled and lost over $700 due to CAD $ to US $ exchange. Greater disappointment! Great products, poor service. I have an Aeron chair and wanted an Eames one as well but didn’t like the deception. Expensive lesson for me.

Exceeds Expectations
One of my goals was always to own one as one as my grandpa had one growing up. Sitting in it alone is an experience that just takes you away. You are just awestruck at its design as it sticks out and feels like a Heisman Trophy is in your living room.
