Inspired by 1930s-era furniture they came across on a visit to Timberline Lodge in Oregon, Studio Tolvanen gave the Terassi Bench (2021) a spaced-plank seat for excellent outdoor performance and round tapered legs for a leaner profile and rustic yet crafted appearance. It is expertly crafted in high-quality teak with a beautiful straight grain, and will naturally patina to a soft grey over time. Made in Indonesia.

Studio Tolvanen

Being husband and wife and also design partners at Studio Tolvanen, Julie and Mika Tolvanen spend a lot of time talking about their work. "We are constantly looking at things," Julie says, "and pointing things out to each other in a kind of never-ending conversation about design that later shows up in our work. Neither of us ever gets tired of thinking about design, so we are a good match.”
