Three-part harmony
Since the 1980s, Nani Marquina has been a pioneer of modern rug design. Her Tres Hue Rug (2016) is a traditional Indian flat-weave floor covering that’s hand-loomed in alternating parts in which different fibers predominate. The ways in which the wool and felt blend in each section bring the pattern to life with interesting variations in tone and weave. Together with the nonprofit Care & Fair, Nani Marquina fights against illegal child labor in rug manufacturing. Made in India.

Nani Marquina
“My job is chasing beauty,” Nani Marquina told DWR in 2007. “The fullest place where you can find beauty is in nature. I love to stare at spectacular landscapes.” A common thread that runs through her innovative and conceptual floor coverings, the natural world – its shapes, colors and textures – has informed Marquina’s work since she launched her company in 1987.
