Paola Paronetto spent years in search of her ceramic voice. “I wasn’t going to limit myself to traditional techniques,” the Italian artist says. “I wanted to experiment, guided by curiosity. I wanted to try to do something different, something interpretive – to develop a personal language to translate joy, lightness, and poetry as sculpture.” The result? Paper-clay, a hybrid of paper pulp, natural fibers, and clay that allows her pieces to be airy and dreamlike, each with its own attitude.

Breaking the mold
Layered by hand with meticulous care, each sculptural object bears the tactile evidence of its making – the brushstrokes, the organic surfaces. “The texture allows for a sense of movement and lightness, accentuated by the play of light and shadow,” Paronetto notes.
