Rooted in nature Designer Stine Aas finds inspiration in Scandinavia’s enduring design traditions.

From Herman Miller®, the Land™ Collection – named for “country” in Aas’ native Norwegian – draws from woodworking techniques and the Arts and Crafts movement, with classic trestle bases, tongue-and-groove joinery, and timber sourced from North American hardwood forests within 350 miles of the West Virginia facility where each piece is manufactured. “I think Norwegian design is organic, inspired by nature,” she says. “It’s always been local and a quite sustainable way of thinking about production and design.”
