Model bird

The Eames House Bird rose to stardom in the 1950s when Charles and Ray Eames pulled it from their own living room and positioned it with a group of Eames DKR chairs for a poster. This masterfully simplistic black bird (circa 1910) with tapered beak and sleek tail was one of their most prized objects of folk art. In cooperation with the Eames family, Vitra used 3-D scans of the original to create the solid alder wood reproduction. Made in Germany.

Charles and Ray Eames

Design is for living. That maxim shaped a widespread shift in design during the 1940s and '50s. It was a revolution of form, an exciting visual language that signaled a new age and a fresh start – and two of its prime movers were Charles and Ray Eames. This husband-and-wife team's unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Sleek and simple. Beautifully functional.

Bird In Paradise
A classic. Have wanted the EAMES House Bird for a long time and did not disappoint. It is quite large. Rather folk artsy. Love it. Looks great on the bookshelf

Perdew Crow Decoy
I’d never noticed the Eames bird before, but I’m a long time decoy collector: the original is a crow decoy made by Charlie Perdew of Henry, Illinois.

Crows were once seen as predators of other, then more desirable birds and their eggs, so hunting them was popular. The popularity of crow hunting declined as people realized their important place in the ecosystem.

If you do a Google Image search for ‘Perdew Crow’ you’ll find lots of them, both by Charlie and his son Haddon, who used the same patterns.

These look like very nice reproductions of a famous form.
