Defined by organic curves and uncomplicated angles, the thoughtfully proportioned Penguin Dining Chair (1953) by Ib Kofod-Larsen has become an icon of mid-century design. Named for the flightless bird, the chair’s oblique seat and wing-like backrest offer a gentle embrace. An upright profile allows easy positioning at a table, while slender steel legs add stability and a crisp contrast to the chair's flowing form. Elegant yet ergonomic, it’s an ideal match for every moment of your day – from morning coffee to focused work to leisurely dinners. Made in China.
  • An elegant, thoughtfully proportioned chair perfect for everyday use.
  • The angled seat and wing-like backrest offer lasting comfort in a refined silhouette.
  • Slender steel legs reduce under-table clutter.
  • Designed by a pioneer of Danish modern, Ib Kofod-Larsen.

Ib Kofod-Larsen

As Danish Modernism expanded globally in the 1950s and ‘60s, architect Ib Kofod-Larsen became one of the most exciting figures of the movement. A trained cabinetmaker, his furniture is marked by subtle details, organic lines, and a visual lightness. Celebrated pieces include the Penguin Chair and Seal Chair, as well as Module U56, renamed the Elizabeth Chair after Queen Elizabeth II acquired two.
