The recent relaunch of the 1967 Pendant by Paavo Tynell (originally designed in 1948) was celebrated by modern lighting fans worldwide. This elegant, height-adjustable pendant with a canvas shade and brass detailing beautifully illustrates the Finnish designer’s ability to use shapes and materials to achieve soft, atmospheric light. An easy-to-operate pulley system allows you to adjust the pendant’s height as you shift from romantic lighting for dinner to more ambient lighting for the room. The whimsical brass collar below the shade adds a decorative flourish. Bulb (not included): E26 base, 6W-10W LED recommended. Made in China.

Paavo Tynell

Known as “The man who illuminated Finland,” lighting pioneer Paavo Tynell began his career when electricity was in its infancy. In 1918 he co-founded the country’s first lighting company, bringing light to Scandinavia. But it was his ability to create indirect, atmospheric light that led Tynell to collaborate with major architects – including Alvar Aalto – designing now-iconic fixtures and lamps.
