Details
The simply elegant 9205 Table Lamp (circa 1950) features a pleasing juxtaposition of polished brass and natural bamboo. Precision-made in classic proportions, this midcentury modern lamp by Finnish designer Paavo Tynell showcases how fine craftsmanship can elevate even the simplest forms. To make the shade, bamboo slats are hand-sewn into a pleated mat and then connected to a frame. The textured surface softens the light to create a warm, atmospheric glow. Bulb (not included): E26 base, LED recommended. Made in China.

Paavo Tynell
Known as “The man who illuminated Finland,” lighting pioneer Paavo Tynell began his career when electricity was in its infancy. In 1918 he co-founded the country’s first lighting company, bringing light to Scandinavia. But it was his ability to create indirect, atmospheric light that led Tynell to collaborate with major architects – including Alvar Aalto – designing now-iconic fixtures and lamps.
